P1392Promat UK is set to host its fourth Fire Day at Ascot Race Course, where construction professionals will be given the opportunity to gather and discuss the fire safety issues faced by the industry. Titled ‘Making your project our business’, the event will take place on Wednesday 12th November 2014, a number of prominent figures from both the construction and fire safety industries will give presentations on topics including steel protection, the use of glass in architectural design, and the role of social media in the construction market.

Chaired by Wilf Butcher, Chief Executive Officer for ASFP, the event will give attendees the chance to assess the current state of the market, examine areas for improvement and find ways to progress in the future.

There will be a wide range of speakers, including Peter Caplehorn RIBA, Deputy Chief Executive and Policy Director of the Construction Products Association, Su Butcher of social media specialists Just Practising, Howard Passey, Commercial Director of the FPA and Promat’s own Business Development Director, Ian Cowley. Among the topics being discussed will be the importance of BIM systems to architects, the use of social media in the construction market, the use of glass in architectural design, and a new ‘White Paper’ which will be launched on Structural Steel Protection.

“Fire is a constant and ongoing issue that threatens everyone” explains Promat’s Ian Cowley. “The aim of this event is to share and discover new ways to minimise that threat. Our previous Fire Days have been very successful and we expect this year’s to follow suit. With a diverse range of people attending the Fire Day, from architects to specialist contractors and insurers, there will be representatives from each sector to voice opinions and share views from all sides of the industry. This has proven helpful in the past as it allows us to thoroughly consider every aspect of fire protection and how it can be handled in this industry.”
