AUGUST 2010 AUGUST 2010
The August 2010 issue of PSI takes a look at the performance of zoom cameras. Traditionally, it has been held that the higher the zoom ratio of a camera, the more 'magnification' that can be achieved. However, as higher resolution cameras become ever more common, this is no longer the case. Often, with regard to zoom functionality, less can actually be more. There is also a look at the pros and cons of CCTV monitor technology. While the CRT might be out-dated in the consumer market, the CCTV sector still has access to such units. Should they be forgotten in favour of LCD alternatives? The issue also includes a round-up of passive infrared sensors, for both internal and external use. As usual, the issue carries the latest news, new product information and summaries of tests from Benchmark, including a group test of Grade 2 dual technology sensors, the Serage external camera from G-Tec, and the Guardcam from ESP.
